How to uninstall Specter

Removing Specter is ordinary Mac housekeeping, and your content is never at risk in the process. The posts Specter synced are plain markdown files in the folder you chose; uninstalling the app leaves every one of them exactly where it is.

Start by quitting Specter from its menu bar icon so the background sync stops. Then move the Specter app from your Applications folder to the Trash, the same as any other app. That is enough to stop it running and remove it.

If you want a fully clean removal, you can also delete the small support files Specter created. Those are its config at ~/.config/ghost-sync/, its state at ~/.local/state/ghost-sync/, and its log at ~/Library/Logs/ghost-sync.log — see where Specter keeps its files for what each one is. Deleting them removes your stored settings and API key from the machine. Leaving them does no harm and means your setup is still there if you reinstall later.

Your markdown folder is yours regardless. That is the whole point of a local-first, no-lock-in tool: you can walk away any time and keep every file. If you are leaving because something did not work, a quick note to support@spectersync.com is genuinely useful — and if you bought Pro within the last 14 days, see the refund answer.
